8th Grade Electives
On the next slide you will be asked to choose your first 6 elective choices for the first semester. Read the brief description below and be prepared to rank them in order of preference.
𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 - Provides students the opportunity to use their creativity and imagination to create pieces of writing that will then be published into their own book.
𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡 - Introduces students to basic vocabulary and conversational skills to be used in both oral and written communication.
Family & Consumer Science - An overview of life skills such as family, nutrition & cooking, finance, careers and others that are useful now and as they grow into young adults.
𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐧𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 - Reviews foundational skills required to master concepts by breaking them down into smaller skills to help students with their grade level math class. *(may be assigned due to missing credits or low test scores)
𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐫𝐭 - Develops basic knowledge and skills in visual art techniques through a variety of media and subject matter.
P.E. - This online course provides students the opportunity to develop knowledge and a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 - Focuses on the history, development and role of several different sports, while using statistics to learn about the athletes.
𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 - Teaches students about computational thinking and programming using block coding.
𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 - Teaches students the second half of computational thinking and programming using block coding from the Intro class. *(successful completion of Intro to Computer Coding or counselor approval required prior to this class)
𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐬: 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 - An exploration of introductory photography concepts.
Spanish I - A yearlong Spanish course earning High School credit. Must qualify based on grades.
